The U shaped blade is sharpened on both edges allowing the hoe to cut instead of push the soil. This swinging motion keeps the blade at a proper angle while continuously working the soil forward and backward. The thin, oscillating steel stirrup easily cuts through tough weeds just below the soil surface.
